Ana Isabel Casquilho is Portuguese, graduated from the National Ballet Conservatory in Lisbon with a ballet dancer diploma and received the Merit Award in 2011. She pursued her BA in contemporary dance at Codarts in Rotterdam and was awarded a scholarship from 2012 to 2015. Her choreographed piece, Keep in Touch, was selected to tour with Codarts’ repertoire program and was nominated for the “IT’s Kristina de Chatêl Award.” In 2015, while dancing with Introdans in the Netherlands, Ana choreographed Intima. In 2015, she joined Ballet Hagen in Germany as a soloist dancer and created several pieces, including Nua, |88, Hosanna, and Grândola. Grândola was performed by students of the National Ballet Conservatory in Lisbon in 2020 and 2022. Ana also set |88 at In Tranz YT Cia in Portugal in 2021 and participated as a teacher and jury member for their summer program and company auditions. In 2022, Ana presented her duet Fatum at the Gala Solidária de Dança in Portugal and premiered Inês with Ballet Augsburg in Germany. She danced as a soloist with Ballet Augsburg from 2019 to 2023. In 2023, she was commissioned for a new creation with Ballet X Schwerin in Germany, resulting in Fado em Mim. Ana’s choreographic works have been recognized and selected for various competitions and festivals. She was nominated as an emerging young choreographer in Portugal 2023. Throughout her career, Ana has worked with renowned choreographers, including Johan Inger, Itzik Galili, Cayetano Soto, Jiři Kylian, Karole Armitage, Andonis Foniadakis, and more. Her experiences with these artists have influenced her creative process and choreographic methods.
