The Italian dancer Lucia Giarratana received her first dance lessons from 1998-2008 at the Centro Teatro Danza in Palermo. She later deepened her training from 2008-2010 at the École Internationale de Danse Paris and then from 2010-2011 at the École Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower. Internships took her to the Aalto Theatre in Essen in 2012 and the following year to the Royal Ballet of Flanders and the Ballet of the Ulm Theatre. From 2011 to 2013 she was part of the Cannes Jeune Ballet. She then joined the ballet company at Chemnitz Theatre from 2013-2015 before moving to the Landestheater Eisenach and Staatstheater Meiningen from 2015-2023. Giarratana has a broad repertoire, including solo appearances in The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and The Taming of the Shrew.
From the 2023/2024 season, Giarratana will be a member of the ballet company at Bremerhaven City Theatre.
As a choreographer, she has created regularly for the Landestheater Eisenach and the Staatstheater Meiningen as part of shared evenings and for the Theater Naumburg. She has also been assistant choreographer for several opera and ballet productions. In 2021, she will also complete a Master's degree in arts and cultural management at Rome Business School.
